Call for Entries: Changeable Art

Dear Hunt County Artist Community,

The Hunt County Public Art Foundation operating in concert with Keep Greenville Beautiful invites you to participate in the first annual changeable art competition. A new mural will be constructed in the year 2014 at the corner of Washington and Johnson Streets in Greenville and will include a 4’ X 8’ framed section which will change year over year. A copy of the mural concept may be found on this website.

Requirements:

Submitted art MUST have a width that is one half the height.  Artist may submit only one piece and must be original work. Winning art will be scanned, digitized, and printed for the mural. Artists may choose to create art that coincides with the mural or choose art with a different value. Artists are free to choose their own medium. However, winning art must be able to be scanned and printed effectively.

All entries must include on 3”x 5” index cards the artist’s name, contact information, and interpretation of submitted art. Also, include a brief biography of your Hunt County persona as it relates to art (or) resume.  Winning artist’s name and information will be used in press releases and to promote the mural.

Eligibility:

Artists residing within Hunt County are eligible.

Stipend:

The winner of this competition will receive a $500 stipend.

Deadline:

All entries must be received by 4:30pm Wednesday February 5, 2014. All entries must be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce at 2713 Stonewall Street, Greenville, TX 75401 during business hours of M-F between 8am to 4:30 pm.

Copyright:

Winning artist will retain copyright to their work but the Hunt County Public Art Foundation will retain unlimited rights to utilize their work to promote and further the work of Public Art for our region.

The  Selection Panel:

The panel from which the winning art will be selected will be comprised of respected members of the arts community and may or may not include judges outside of Hunt County to ensure integrity.

Terms and Conditions:

The Hunt County Public Art Foundation reserves the right to adjust time frame for featured art depending on completion of mural. The foundation also reserves the right to reject all entries at any time and terminate process without further notice. Submittal of art constitutes acceptance of terms.
